Rua do Tonel is a cobbled street on the western side of Sagres, lined with old cottages leading along to the beach. Sagres town centre is a 5 minute level stroll away and has a plentiful choice of bars, surf shops, restaurants & cafes where you can sample local food and it also has a great history. A busy tourist town in the summer months and a quiet retreat in winter. Sagres is a living, working town with plenty of fulltime locals bustling with Portuguese life.

Sagres and its surroundings are within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. This is a protected and wildly beautiful landscape of rugged cliffs, unspoilt coastline and miles of wide open countryside. Sagres has 4 of its own beaches, and there are 15 or so other amazing beaches to explore in the area. Within easy walking distance is the world famous Fortaleza (Fortress) de Sagres, and the port.
